Lionel Messi article

One feat that Messi is after is having the record for most goals in a calendar year and after beating Pele's record, now he just has to beat Gerd Muller.  After scoring for the 75th and 76th time in 2012 to move within nine of Gerd Mueller's all-time record as Barcelona won 4-2 at Mallorca in the Spanish league on Sunday, Lionel Messi, the Argentine phenomenon from Barcelona FC surpassed Pele's milestone of goals in a calendar year, setting the new world record for the Most goals scored in official matches during a year, according to the World Record. (http:www.worldrecordacademy.com/games most_goals_scored_in_official_matches_during_a_year_Leo_Messi_breaks_world_record_113139.html).

Messi's year in soccer from this recent year, which would from January one to present, has been a very big one.  He's been winning a lot of games, working well with teammates, and getting his fans really pumped up, and all of this is because of the massive amount of goals that he has scored.

In just two thousand twelve Messi has scored seventy six goals and the years not even over yet.  On November eleven two thousand twelve Lionel Messi scored his seventy fifth and seventy sixth goal of the year.  Those two goals helped him surpass the great Edison Arantes (publicly known as Pele) who recently had the record for scoring the second most amount of goals in a year, which he scored seventy five and now Messi taking the number two spot right from underneath of Pele.  This information was by:(http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/barcelona/9671815/Lionel-Messi-chases-Gerd-Mullers-record-of-most-goals-in-a-year-after-surpassing-Pele-record-with-76th-goal-of-2012.html)

Messi now is on the chase to have the most amount  of goals in a year instead of being number two.  To accomplish that feat, Messi has to catch up to Gerd Muller who scored eighty five in nineteen eighty two.

You don't need hieght to do unthinkable things

A big adversity that Messi has faced in his life is his height. "Recognizably smaller than most of the boys he played with, Messi was eventually diagnosed by doctors as suffering from a hormone deficiency that restricted his growth." http://www.biography.com/people/lionel-messi-555732 So through this quote, you can probably tell that Messi isn't the tallest person you may come across. When Messi was eleven he was four foot and two inches.

At the age of thirteen, that's when Fc Barcelona started looking at him as a prospect and since Messi's parents couldn't afford the treatment for it, Fc Barcelona had Messi join the team as a youth prospect and paid for the treatment for him.  The pills that Messi took were called HGH growth hormone pills.  HGH pills are geared towards making your bones stronger and making you taller.  Messi needed this because of how small he was how because of that, his bones were week too.  Now Messi is twenty five years old and he stands at the height of five foot six and a half.

There are lots of people that say that Messi is cheating because of taking the pills and there are rules that you cannot take growth hormone pills in competitive sports but the rule specifically says that if you have a growth deficiency (which Messi has) then it is legal to take it.  Also even with taking the pills, Messi is still five foot six and a half and one of the smallest footballers in the world so the footballers that complain about him should be happy that he's not taller or else Messi would be even better than he is now, which is hard to imagine.

I feel that with how small Messi is, that he has done un imaginable things and that he has shocked the world.  I also think that people shouldn't complain about him taking the pills because he has a growth deficiency problem and he's still smaller than almost all of his opponents.

Lets meet Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi is an Argentinian soccer star that has risen to greatness.  Messi was born June twenty four nineteen eighty seven in Rosario Argentina.  When Messi was eight he got his big start as a soccer player.  He joined the local team Newell's old boys, which was the nearest professional team to him.  Where he showed people that he had great talent.

Big part adversity that Messi has overcome is his height.  At age eleven Messi was diagnosed with hormone growth deficiency.  Unfortunately Messi's parents could not offered the treatment.  That's when, at the age of thirteen, Fc Barcelona  (a very high-class professional soccer team) offered to pay for the treatment if he would join the team. He was obviously a happy kid, along with his parents.  With Messi being a member of Fc Barcelona, he moved to Spain with his family so that he could play.

Messi's family is made up of his parents (Jorge and Celia), his brothers (Rodrigo and Matias) and his sister (Maria).  Messi's dad was a factory worker and his mother was a part time cleaner, so they had enough money to provide, but they couldn't have a lot of extra things.
I chose to blog about Lionel Messi because he's not only my favorite soccer player, but he's a hero of mine as well. I look up to him a lot because of how well he plays and how easy he makes it look to play soccer while being a good sport.  And I also look up to him for how he overcame his height adversity. Theres a lot to say about Messi because of all he's done in the realm of soccer and because of the type if character he is.
